Helping School-Aged Children To Combat Bullying
In the fall of 2022, I teamed up with three other classmates to design an app with the intention to solve one of the 17 Sustainable Goals. We chose to tackle Quality Education. a discrete and customizable bluetooth keychain that school-age children attach to their backpacks that, when pressed, alerts school administration, parents and guardians with the “Buddy” app that their student or child just experienced mild to intermediate harm in a specific radius to school grounds and adults are able to take action immediately. In April of 2023, my team and I had the opportunity to present this design at the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Computer-Human Interface (CHI) conference in Hamburg, Germany.
Eventra
SMAD/CIS Senior Capstone 2023
During the last six weeks of my fall semester senior year, I teamed up with fellow SMAD students as well as Computer Information Systems students to design and develop an event planning website for our client and stakeholder. We created Eventra, a centralized system to host events, manage registration, and join events. In the final week my team, the Web Wizards, presented in front of judges and professors against competing teams, and were rewarded first place for our many hours of hard work! This experience taught me how important teamwork and communication truly are, as well as enhanced my problem solving skills immensely.

This was my first UX design project freshman year of college. I created a low fidelity prototype of MunchMap, an app to identify and locate local restaurants, specifically in the Harrisonburg, VA area.
